THE CHRISTIAN FAITH – is a Bible study that Pastor Burger offers for anyone interested. It covers the basics of our Lutheran beliefs and can lead to membership in Redeemer Lutheran Church. The study will be held following worship today and on as many upcoming Sundays as possible following our worship services. This study will be limited to about 20 minutes each time.
ASH WEDNESDAY – This solemn day which begins the Lenten season is coming on THIS WEDNESDAY, March 5. Come for a meaningful worship service at 7:00 p.m. which will include the imposition of ashes and the Lord’s Supper. Pastor Burger will begin a special Lenten series of meditations entitled “Words of Life from the Cross” which will consider the words Jesus’ spoke while on the cross.
Also, a SOUP SUPPER will be available in Quoss Hall at 6 p.m. before the worship service.
Also on Ash Wednesday the Claremore Ministerial Alliance will begin a series of Wednesday devotional services at noon to be followed by lunch to be held at First Christian Church (5th and Florence).
THE SPRING QUARTER OF SUNDAY SCHOOL – continues on next Sunday, March 9! Please invite and bring children at or before 9 a.m. for “Growing in Christ.” Next Sunday’s Bible story will be the Temptation of Jesus (Matthew 4).
NEW BIBLE STUDY TO CONTINUE – On next Sunday, March 9 at 9 a.m. Pastor Burger will continue a new Bible study on “Numbers” – not the book by that name in the Bible, but God’s use of actual numbers in the Bible in His design and plan for us. As always, Sunday Morning Café will be available at 8:30 a.m.
MISSION OFFERINGS – received during the Sunday school hour or in “Missionary Prayer Pal” offerings TODAY (3/2) will go to Missionary Jennifer Norman who visited us on last Sunday. Effective next Sunday, March 9 the mission offering for military Bible sticks and “Proclaimers” through Faith Comes by Hearing will resume.
CHOIR MEMBERS - please note. There will be no rehearsal this Wednesday following the Ash Wednesday service. However, we will be singing an anthem, so all members need to be present. Come for soup supper and stay for the service.
POTLUCK AND VOTERS MEETING – There will be a potluck dinner following our worship service on Sunday, March 16. Following the dinner, the first quarterly meeting of the voters of Redeemer Lutheran will be held. All communicant members are strongly urged to attend to hear reports and recommendations from boards and committees including the sanctuary committee, building committee, and financial review committee.
OUR NEXT “MITE SUNDAY” – will be on Sunday, April 6. Save up your pocket change or ask our Lutheran Women in Mission for a “mite box.”
THANK YOU – again to Don DeBolt for his faithfulness, this time for getting our outdoor sign back in night time working order and for fixing a kitchen sink water leak! THANK YOU also to Kim Cobb and Rosalind Burger who served along with moms and grandmothers at Children’s Day at Redeemer on Thursday, February 20! THANK YOU also to Virginia Funkhouser for the snack at Children’s Day!
LADIES: ADVANCE NOTICE - Begin planning now to attend the 2014 LWML Oklahoma District Convention to be held April 25-26 in Oklahoma City.
