THE CLAREMORE COMMUNITY CHORUS - will present its 2014 Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Please plan to attend this fine concert. Refreshments will follow.
HANDEL’S MESSIAH - will be presented by the All Lutheran Chorus & Orchestra. Hallelujah! Come hear the inspired music of Handel as we praise our newborn King with instruments and voices. Hear John the Baptizer prepare the way of the Lord, see the Angel dressed in dazzling white announce His coming and watch as the shepherds bow before the Babe. Sing with the 100 voice choir & orchestra as the Hallelujah Chorus swells and fills your heart. The presentations will be held on December 6 and 7, at 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church (corner of 13th and Lewis). Let Advent begin!
OUR CONGREGATION NOW OFFERS DURING-THE-WEEK E-MAIL “ENCOURAGEMENTS” FOR LIVING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE – Many have already submitted their response to this offer. If you haven’t, please get the simple pink form from Pastor Burger and submit it in the offering plate or through the church office.
ADULT BRAILLE MINISTRY: Once a month (2nd Tuesday), a dedicated group of Redeemer members travel to Tulsa to assemble Braille books for the blind. The group travels to Tulsa for their monthly work project this Tuesday, December 9 at 9:00 a.m. They would welcome others who are interested in this worthwhile mission. They usually car pool to help with the driving expense. Contact Lorna or Martin if you have questions and wish to be included.
THE MEN’S MORNING BREAKFAST - which would normally be held on this Saturday, November 29 has been moved to Saturday, December 6 at 8 a.m. After the breakfast there will be the opportunity to help prepare Redeemer Lutheran’s entry in the December 13 Claremore Christmas parade. To that end, we are extending a special invitation to both men and women to join us for the breakfast and the work project that will follow. It would be helpful to the “chefs” if you would let us know through the church office if you will be attending. Thanks.
THANKSGIVING AT REDEEMER
On Wednesday, November 26 (Thanksgiving Eve) at 7 p.m. we will have our own Redeemer Lutheran Thanksgiving worship service. In addition to being called to “give thanks in all circumstances” (1 Thessalonians 5:18), it is fitting and right for us to join with people all across our land in giving thanks to God at the Thanksgiving holiday. We believers do it especially for the gift of His Son, Jesus our Savior. Our service will include Thanksgiving hymns, Scripture, and the “feast” in which our Lord Jesus gives Himself to us. Make plans to worship with us!
THANKSGIVING DINNER AT REDEEMER - If there is enough interest we will have another Thanksgiving dinner at Redeemer Lutheran this year for members and friends who would like to share the responsibilities for a home-cooked meal with others. The dinner would be held on Thanksgiving Day, November 27. The plan would be for all who participate to sit down together for the dinner at 12:30 p.m.
Each family or individual who would like to be a part of this Thanksgiving dinner would have a portion of the meal to prepare. Part of the benefit of getting together like this is not having to prepare the whole meal as you might at home.
We need to know as soon as possible through our church office if you would like to participate in the dinner - certainly no later than Friday, November 14! That way you can be included in the planning and preparation.
FOOD PANTRY NEWS - Our current needs include: canned meats, cereals, rice, peanut butter and jelly, dry beans, instant potatoes, pasta sides, rice sides and cornbread mixes. Thank you all once again for all of your generous support!
JUICE CANS NEEDED - We could use a few of the 46 ounce size juice cans (tomato juice, etc.) here at church. They are useful for carrying flowers home.
THRIVENT MEMBERS – YOU can make a difference! YOU can submit a simple application to Thrivent for approval, then gather a small action team to help you, and you will be given up to $250 that you use to fund an action-service project. That’s right, Thrivent will fund the project your small team does! Just keep your eyes and ears open for a need, but if you are looking for ideas of what YOU can do, check the list of 101 ideas posted on the bulletin board. You may go online to read more about it and to apply: www.thrivent.com/actionteam. Please ask Sharon or Cynthia for more details.
