ADVENT WORSHIP SERVICES--Wednesdays, December 3, 11 [note change] , and 17 at 7 p.m.
These evening worship times are a special time to meditatively prepare for Christ's Christmas coming. We use the meaningful Evening Prayer service in our hymnal to set a thoughtful tone to our Advent preparations. The services provide the opportunity to sing Advent and/or evening hymns.
Pastor Burger’s meditations for these services this year will be based on the theme: “The Gospel in a Nutshell." Therefore, the meditations at all three services will arise from the beloved John 3:16. The services last only about half of the time of Sunday morning services. Make time to prepare your heart with us!
ADULT BRAILLE MINISTRY: Once a month (2nd Tuesday), a dedicated group of Redeemer members travel to Tulsa to assemble Braille books for the blind. The group travels to Tulsa for their monthly work project this Tuesday, December 9 at 9:00 a.m. They would welcome others who are interested in this worthwhile mission. They usually car pool to help with the driving expense. Contact Lorna or Martin if you have questions and wish to be included.
REFUGEE ANGEL TREE - Please join us for the Oklahoma Immigrant Outreach Refugee Angel program. We have children and some adults who are in great need of warm coats and shoes to get through the winter. As most of you know, the vast majority of our clients are refugees from Burma (Myanmar), although this year we have a former Muslim family originally from Nigeria as well, so they are not used to our cold winters. The requests (usually a coat and shoes) are listed on the card and you may add additional items to the gift, if you choose. You can take as many names as you like or go in together with other church members. Please be sure the items are new/unused and attach the receipt and name card to the gift. You may bring your gift(s) to a reception for donors on Saturday, December 13 at 1:30 p.m. at Christ the Redeemer Lutheran in Tulsa. Or, please have the gifts here NO LATER THAN SUNDAY, DECEMBER 21 so that they can be delivered. Thank you so much for your continued support!
CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS SERVICE will be Sunday, December 21 at 10:30 a.m. The children will take the lead for our Sunday morning worship service on that day. The theme for this service will be “Sound the Bells - The Savior's Born!" This will be a service not to be missed by those who love the carols of Christmas and delight in being led in worship by the children! Parents: Please note the dates and times for the children’s rehearsals on the calendar.
FOOD PANTRY NEWS - Thank you for your continued support for this mission. Our current needs include cereals, crackers, peanut butter and jelly, and canned fruit. Thank you for your generous support!
JUICE CANS NEEDED - We could use a few of the 46 ounce size juice cans (tomato juice, etc.) here at church. They are useful for carrying flowers home.
