OUR CONGREGATION NOW OFFERS DURING-THE-WEEK E-MAIL “ENCOURAGEMENTS” FOR LIVING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE – Many have already submitted their response to this offer. If you haven’t, please get the simple pink form from Pastor Burger and submit it in the offering plate or through the church office.
ADULT BRAILLE MINISTRY: Once a month (2nd Tuesday), a dedicated group of Redeemer members travel to Tulsa to assemble Braille books for the blind. The group travels to Tulsa for their monthly work project this Tuesday, November 11 at 9:00 a.m. They would welcome others who are interested in this worthwhile mission. They usually car pool to help with the driving expense. Contact Lorna or Martin if you have questions and wish to be included.
KEENAGERS – Bring a potluck dish and a favorite game or cards and join us as we share food, fellowship, and games just for the fun of it in Quoss Hall this Friday, November 14 at 6 p.m.
THE BOARD OF ELDERS will meet on Sunday, November 16 immediately following the worship service.
ST. JOHN LUTHERAN in Pryor invites all members of the Miami Circuit to join them in a mission festival beginning at 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 16. Because they will serve a dinner after the service, they would like a headcount of the approximate number attending from each congregation. You may call the church 918-825-1926, or email them at email@example.com to give that information. Come and share in this special service of thanksgiving for the mission of sharing the Good News of salvation with the world!
THANKSGIVING AT REDEEMER
WORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES - On Sunday, November 23 at 6 p.m. the annual Claremore community Thanksgiving service sponsored by the Claremore Ministerial Alliance will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Claremore (1336 N. Dorothy). It will feature Scripture reading, prayer, and singing by groups from Claremore churches, including our own Redeemer Lutheran choir. There will also be a cross-denominational youth event that happens at the same time, also at the Church of the Nazarene.
On Wednesday, November 26 (Thanksgiving Eve) at 7 p.m. we will have our own Redeemer Lutheran Thanksgiving worship service. In addition to being called to “give thanks in all circumstances” (1 Thessalonians 5:18), it is fitting and right for us to join with people all across our land in giving thanks to God at the Thanksgiving holiday. We believers do it especially for the gift of His Son, Jesus our Savior. Our service will include Thanksgiving hymns, Scripture, and the “feast” in which our Lord Jesus gives Himself to us. Make plans to worship with us!
THANKSGIVING DINNER AT REDEEMER - If there is enough interest we will have another Thanksgiving dinner at Redeemer Lutheran this year for members and friends who would like to share the responsibilities for a home-cooked meal with others. The dinner would be held on Thanksgiving Day, November 27. The plan would be for all who participate to sit down together for the dinner at 12:30 p.m.
Each family or individual who would like to be a part of this Thanksgiving dinner would have a portion of the meal to prepare. Part of the benefit of getting together like this is not having to prepare the whole meal as you might at home.
We need to know as soon as possible through our church office if you would like to participate in the dinner - certainly no later than Friday, November 14! That way you can be included in the planning and preparation.
FOOD PANTRY NEWS - Although we have a great abundance of many items, to keep the pantry stocked with a variety items, our needs this week include: canned meats, cereal, rice, peanut butter and jelly, dry beans, instant potatoe bags, pasta sides, rice sides and cornbread mixes. Thank you all once again for all of your generous support!
JUICE CANS NEEDED - We could use a few of the 46 ounce size juice cans (tomato juice, etc.) here at church. They are useful for carrying flowers home.
TWO THANK YOU'S! - One goes to Don DeBolt for working valiantly to re-paint yellow stripes in some of our parking areas! The other goes to Pastor Virgil Bening for the shelves for the gold cross and the offering plates in the chancel, and for refinishing the new offering plates and the missal stand on the altar!
